"Do your senior high students seem disengaged? Are they anxious for the future? Prepare and inspire them with hope in action. In the 2023-24 school year, we piloted an Environmental Stewardship 3-credit options course at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy in Canmore, Alberta. Students joined this options course out of a desire to make a positive change in their community. Students learned through outdoor hiking field trips and site visits about everything from human-wildlife coexistence and Indigenous relationship to place, to waste, water and energy systems.
